Award-winning, Mary Branson is best known for her large scale conceptual light sculptures and installations. These include the iconic ‘New Dawn’ sculpture in the Houses of Parliament to celebrate the centenary of the Suffrage movement, light and sound works for the London 2012 Olympics and ‘Ladders of Light’ at Salisbury Cathedral. Nearer to home, Mary created ‘Harvest’ , a huge site-specific installation at Box Hill commissioned by Surrey Hills Arts and the National Trust, highlighting the plight of farmers facing climate change. Mary is an elected member of The Royal Society of Sculptors (MRSS)
and The London Group (LG)
'Mary’s talk was inspiring and uplifting. The background, research and journey that she went through to create the work is fascinating, and she speaks with authority and knowledge of every part of the creative process and the technicalities of the piece, with a manner that is enchanting, makes you feel like she’s speaking to you alone and an enthusiasm about the work that is infectious.' - Helen Cundy, Director.
